In the slow summer after SARS, bands like the Constantines gave this burg what it needed most: a serious jolt of homegrown vitality, reminding us that there was plenty of life and energy left in the city. The boys, originally from Guelph, ON, are another shining example of a band that hit NXNE on its way to national and international stardom--since 03, the Constantines have released two great albums, including this spring's Kensington Heights. They've also won fans and rave reviews across North America and in the UK, drawing frequent comparisons to the Clash and Crazy Horse.
