NXNE recently wrapped up a hugely successful, 10 day, 2018 Festival with three packed nights of music in the NXNE Yonge Street Festival Village.
Due to border hassles, Sunday, June 17's closing night bill was flipped and rising start Tinashe and her amazing team of dancers played the second last slot to give Big Freedia and her squad time to clear the border. It might have been fortuitous programming as Freedia's butt shaking party vibe and some sweet nostalgia, hello Whiney Houston,With seemed to close out NXNE's return to Yonge Street perfectly.
NXNE's Festival Village shut down Canada's biggest street, from the music main stage at Dundas to the packed Comedy Tent at Queen from Friday, June 15 to Sunday, June 17. Other music headliners at the Yonge Street Stage included: Chvrches, Jazz Cartier, Lights, Azealea Banks, Yungblud, U. S. Girls, Cadence Weapon and dozens more.
The Festival's Club Land Curators' Series so many of Toronto's top music venues jammed late into the night, programmed by leading Canadian musicians. Top Canadian acts who programmed their favourite up-and-coming artists included: Leah Fay (July Talk), Jim Cuddy, K-os, Cone (Sum 41), Jasmyn Burke (Weaves), Odario, Katie Monks (Dillay Dally), The Elwins, Terra Lightfoot, Ralph and many more.
Look for June 2019 dates soon. And yes, we are staying on Yonge Street!
