The Experience

We’ve made plenty of great site enhancements to the all ages NXNE Port Lands this year. There’s limitless free water, lots of shade and seating, a stand up comedy tent – but you can sit – way more food trucks, plus midway rides and carnival games and astounding sponsor activations.

Why not watch your favourite band’s set from way up high on the NXNE Port Lands Ferris wheel? Or if you’re feeling braver, go for a few spins on the paratrooper ride. Feeling lucky? Then play some of our carnival games, staffed by real live carnies, and win yourself cool over-sized prizes all to the soundtrack of some of the world’s best bands.

Our new NXNE Comedy Tent is a must-see, programmed by Toronto’s best comedy venue, The Comedy Bar. Take a break from the music – and the sun – and come inside our comedy tent and laugh your ass off to some of Canada’s best stand up comics. Some of Toronto’s best comedy nights bring their laffs to the Port Lands including: Laugh Sabbath, Deez Laughs, Comedy Uncovered, Comedy Records, Superstars of Comedy and more. Laugh till you cry to: Martha Chavez, Pat MacDonald, Sophie Kohn, Brian Ward and many more.

Getting there has never been easier as the TTC is adding buses from Pape Station and Union Station throughout NXNE Port Lands weekend. Toronto’s two biggest bike paths converge near the Port Lands and we have free valet bike parking again. And if you hate polar bears and want to drive to NXNE, we have lots of parking.

And did we mention food trucks? We’ve added a ton of Toronto’s best food trucks this year so you’ll have plenty of fuel to dance your asses off all day and night. And if that isn’t enough for you, everybody at NXNE Port Lands has in-and-out privileges. We’re talking site admission people, not whatever you’re thinking.

Our presenting sponsor, Porsche is going all out with a three story activation that that features sound, speed and experience. They’re not coming all the way from Germany to be boring.

RFID wristbands, cashless option

New this year, NXNE becomes the only Toronto-area festival to offer 21st century, chip enabled wristbands.

Besides looking awesome and being made of comfortable cloth, the NXNE RFID wristband gives you the option of going cashless for all three days at NXNE Port Lands. It’s your choice but if you want to get through lines faster and not have to carry or fumble with a pile of cash, just enable a credit card when you sign up with your wristband. Up to two wristbands can be added to the same card.

When you receive your wristband in the mail, unless you are picking up at Will Call or are buying on site, go on-line to register your wristband to take advantage of the cashless option and to log in as an NXNE-er and make it easy to take advantage of cool sponsor activations on site. You’ll want to be able to take full advantage of Porsche’s unbelievable options.

Midway rides, carnival games, cotton candy and candy apples

Why not see your favourite NXNE act from up high, atop our towering Ferris wheel above the crowds and with a perfect view of the Skyline Stage? This year we’ve added a Ferris Wheel to the fun at NXNE Port Lands and with your aerial view of the action, you’ll be an Instagram and social media star with your drone-worthy pics from the sky.

If you like your heights a little more edgy, climb aboard the twirling Paratrooper ride and try not to drop your cell phone as you grab a pic from above.

Feeling lucky? Then face off with our team of Top Flight Carnies in NXNE Port Lands carnival games. Win fabulous prizes playing: Long Range Basketball, Tubs of Fun, Dragon Darts, Cover the Spot or Mini B-ball.

And celebrate your winnings munching on a candy apple or cotton candy.

Comedy at NXNE Port Lands

We’re working with the hilarious folks at Toronto’s Laff Headquarters, The Comedy Bar to bring NXNE Port Lands attendees some of the best comics in Canada. Take a break from the music and the sun and sit down and laugh your butt off at an amazing lineup of comedy talent.

We’re bringing th best of a bunch of Toronto-area comedy nights including: SASS Comedy, Deez Laughs, Comedy Uncovered, Laugh Sabbath, Perfect 10, Superstars of Comedy, Empire Comedy, Top Shelf Comedy, Joke Party, Crimson Wave, Helder Brum and Friends and Comedy Records.

.

Where are the Port Lands?

Just east of downtown Toronto, as close to Lake Ontario as you can get without falling in. Just past the Distillery District and south. Where those giant white abandoned industrial silos by the Cherry Street Bridge are, you can cross the bridge to enter to NXNE Port Lands.

It's just south of the part of the Gardiner Expressway that should have been torn down and where it curves to become the Don Valley Parkway. It's where the biggest bike paths in Toronto meet: one north-south, one east-west. It's on the way to Cherry Beach, across the street from Toronto's glamest, biggest new venue, Rebel; the former Sound Academy but way shiner. It's also across from T&T Market and just north of a working drawbridge. It's where Cirque de Soleil pitches their tent in the summer and some gasp and are charmed by wonderment.

There's regular bus service, plenty of parking and it is one of the most bike friendly sites in town with free bike valet parking during the festival.

By TTC bus, from the west, take the 172B Cherry St bus from King or St. Andrews to Commissioners St. Coming from the east, take the 72C bus from Pape Station to Cherry and Commissioners St. There is tons pf parking for cars. Last year, we had a free boat shuttle from Harbourfront to NXNE Port Lands.

Artist FAQs

Should I email (insert name & email of person on the NXNE contact list) to ask them to book my band? NXNE takes a very limited number of unsolicited bands, if you think yours should be one of those, send your particulars to info@nxne.com.

Yonge-Dundas Square

What is a Yonge-Dundas Square?

It's a big public space at Yonge and Dundas in the heart of the city, in the middle of downtown Toronto (Dundas Subway). It's also called YDS, some claim it's Toronto's Times Square and we regularly create special NXNE events including mega concerts by Iggy and the Stooges, the Flaming Lips, Run the Jewels and many more. We added a live video gaming in 2016 on the big screen and on dozens of consoles and computers. We are presenting the biggest free, outdoor live E-Sports event ever in Canada in 2017 to kick off NXNE the weekend of June 16 -18.

I hear the shows at YDS are free. That's cool, but what's the catch - how much are they?

They're free. Really.

Are they all ages?

Yes. Fun for the whole family. Also free.
