There are two sides to the coin we collectively call country music. It is a genre torn between hard work and hard livin’, the ranch and the road, old western wisdom and downright bad advice. These contradictions pepper any country record worth its salt, creating a kind of double vision that makes the music so true to life. It is a thin line that separates responsibility from reckless abandon, hardly wider than a penny’s edge. The Holy Gamblers know that line well, and they are dealin’ in that currency.
The name itself hints at the divide between virtue and vice, destiny and dumb luck. One of the two brought these boys together from across Canada to settle in the Big Smoke, and they have been rocking some of the city’s most storied stages ever since. With a high-octane honky-tonk sound, they have quickly become a must-see live act on the Southern Ontario circuit.
